Up to the end of 2018, this roster allowed experts with relevant experience and qualifications to register and to be contacted by the Action for short-term consultancies (with deployments of maximum 60 days, which could be divided in several periods) to respond to requests for technical assistance by African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Governments and Regional Organizations. Applicants were considered as experts only if they demonstrated verifiable experience and expertise in one or more of the following the migration areas: remittances, visas, readmission, trafficking in human beings, smuggling of migrants, in accordance with the recommendations of the African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) – European Union (EU) Dialogue on Migration.
Officials of ACP countries, Governments and EU Members States with the below qualifications and experiences are encouraged to apply for inclusion in this roster.
Criteria for Inclusion in the Roster of Experts on Migration:
The Migration Expert must demonstrate a sound experience in one or more of the areas of recommendations of the ACP-EU Dialogue. Depending on the specificity of the request for technical assistance the profile of the expert varies.
Qualifications: advanced degree (masters or higher) or large proven experience in the field; diplomas or course certificates from recognized institutions related to the area of technical expertise on migration.
Professional Experience and Competencies:
1. Proven track-record of professional experience on a specific area on migration;
2. At least 7 years of professional experience in the migration field;
3. Professional experience in at least one ACP country, preferably working in close cooperation with national authorities/institutions about migration issues;
4. Proven experience in working in international settings.
If the candidates were accepted for registration in the roster, they were notified regarding their registration and registration number corresponding to their file in the roster. In no way the notification of registration in this roster was a guarantee that the person would be further contacted by IOM, nor the assignment of either a consultancy contract or any other form of employment with IOM.
